Anxiety is more than just feeling stressed or worried

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. People with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. Often, anxiety disorders involve repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense worry and fear or terror that can reach a peak within minutes resulting in panic attacks.

These feelings are out of proportion to a situation or are in anticipation of something presumed stressful. This chronic stress can make day to day living very difficult. There is normally a combination of reasons that contribute to person’s anxiety.

But what all anxiety has in common is the nervous system being in a constant state of fight, flight or freeze, where both learned and innate body reactions take place. These include an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, sweating, pupil dilation, dry mouth, clenched jaw plus many more. Stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol are released into the system to assist in dealing with the perceived threat.

It’s impossible for the body to repair itself when it’s in fight or flight mode

Over time anxiety can wear down the body’s natural defenses as it is impossible for the body to repair itself when it’s in fight or flight mode and as such can lead the person to chronic health complaints.

Kinergetics Kinesiology targets the autonomic nervous system (ANS), the fight/flight response and accesses your past traumas, emotional patterns and neural pathways that contribute to the symptoms. When the body is relaxed and calm it can repair itself and this is our end goal. Kinesiology empowers you, assists in rewiring the nervous system and bringing your whole being into balance again.

Assisting the body with correct nutrition is also vitally important when dealing with anxiety. As every individual is unique so is their response to food and supplements. Implementing some basic gut repair strategies can greatly assist in this area.
